Areas: Ancient ruin
Orta and Lagi follow Abadd into an ancient ruin, hidden in a mountain area. Only the entrance is situated above the ground and leads to a vertical tunnel which has several side passages throughout the structure. The interior design couldn't get more 'Ancient' than this, with the characteristic white pattern with black lines we find in most of the ancient ruins. Some of the enemies in the ruin seem to be more a part of the ruin than individual creatures, so perhaps the ruins themselves may be more organic than we previously thought.

At certain places you can see stairs and 'bridges' that lead to doors, probably used by Drones who maintained the structure. Further downwards, the design suddenly changes into a golden, metallic environment that appears much more mechanical than the previous part. Could this mean that the ruins were organic structures that grow from a solid, mechanical core? Given the Ancients' knowledge of genetics, this is far from impossible. Moments after entering the new area, you can see some sort of scorpion-like skeleton on the floor. This is actually the machine-like creature, the Atish, you destroyed in the beginning of the episode. If you look up, you can see the tunnel that leads all the way back to the entrance of the ruin. In my opinion, this is a hint from Smilebit to the true nature of the ruin. It could actually be a Tower (every PD game has its own Tower, so maybe this game has one too).

Rotating wheels can be seen in the walls, almost like the inside of a mechanical clock. After passing down through a series of security walls, we eventually reach the heart of the structure: the gateway to the Sestren data circuit. |
